Hi, I am Marilee Langner Sturgis.  I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Lyons, Colorado.  I travel throughout Colorado and beyond to photograph weddings.  I do most of my portrait shoots here in Lyons, or in the nearby towns of Boulder and Longmont.

Kate and Chas’ Denver Wedding

Kate and Chas’ wedding was an absolute dream to photograph!  They are one of the most expressive couples I have ever met.  Joy, love, laughter, and funny faces filled every moment of the day.  I loved this wedding!

A spider is hiding under Kate’s dress…eeek!

August 12, 2010 - 2:14 pm Tami & Greg Johnson - What a wonderful day! You two look so happy and I'm so glad we were able to share such a special day with you! Tami & Greg

August 12, 2010 - 3:03 pm Mr. Marilee Photography (Dan) - A very strong set of images! My fav image is the boy trying to blow out the candles.

August 13, 2010 - 5:24 pm Kate Herrin - We loved every moment of this day! Marilee caught so many hidden moments that we weren't even aware of. We are so blessed to have had her capture our day in a way we would never have seen it! I LOVE the one she caught of us whispering at dinner - we didn't even know she was there!

August 13, 2010 - 8:51 pm Kara Katen - What perfect pictures! It was such a beautiful wedding and your pictures are just amazing! Can't wait to see more!!

August 16, 2010 - 8:07 pm Rachel Hagen - Marilee, these are fabulous! I love all the expressions!

Ashley and Jeff’s Beaver Creek Wedding

Ashley and Jeff were married at Beano’s Cabin in Beaver Creek.  What a gorgeous day for a wedding!  Nothing but sun and blue sky.  Ashley and Jeff are such a fun, relaxed couple.  I loved working with these two and their families!  Both sets of parents were beaming the entire day, and everyone at this wedding was just so happy. Ashley and Jeff are obviously a great match.  Congratulations you two!

Caden’s Denver Baby Portrait

I photographed Brooke and Glenn’s wedding in 2007, and they now have a little boy, Caden.  What a cutie!  Here he is at 16 weeks old.  Thank you Brooke and Glenn for letting me photograph your growing family!

August 4, 2010 - 9:39 pm lori kennell - Wow! Love these pictures. It is so fun to watch Caden grow. Lori

Ashley and Jeff’s Lyons Engagement Portrait

Ashley and Jeff joined me in Lyons for their engagement portrait session earlier this summer.  Our session was a bit of an adventure.  I am a self-proclaimed “outdoorsy” person.  I love to hike, camp, and be outside.  But how outdoorsy am I when encountering a rattlesnake in the wild?  Not very!!  Ashley almost stepped on a rattlesnake during our shoot.  When this happened, I practically jumped onto Jeff’s back in fear, and I refused to get close enough to it to even take a picture.  Ashley and Jeff were great sports, and didn’t seem too bothered by the unwelcome encounter.

Mary and Paul’s Boulder Maternity Portrait

I was so excited when Mary and Paul decided to hire me for their maternity pictures.  I photographed their wedding in 2005, and they are now expecting!  We took these pictures on the day of their fifth wedding anniversary. Congratulations to you both, and I can’t wait to meet your little girl!

Denver Landmark Pictures

I took some pictures recently for a Denver law firm’s new website.  The new website design will incorporate pictures of several recognizable Denver landmarks.  This was a really fun project.  A little different for me, as it did not involve photographing people.  And, this project ended on an exciting note:  I nearly got arrested trying to get the last shots at the Denver International Airport!  Apparently, cars are not allowed to stop along the side of the roads leading to and from the parking lots and passenger drop off points.  Oops!

May 4, 2010 - 4:54 pm Rachel Hagen - Great photos Marilee! Glad they didn't end with shots from the inside of the slammer.

Boulder Family Portrait

I photographed Megan, Jeff, and Kaelyn last week at Chautauqua Park in Boulder.  Kaelyn loves to fly.  Flying babies are about the cutest thing in the world.  So are smiling, happy babies like Kaelyn.  Thank you Megan for letting me photograph your family again.  Best of luck to you with your big move!

May 2, 2010 - 11:21 pm julia vandenoever - i love flying babies too! beautiful photos.

Zephyr and Robert’s Beaver Creek Wedding

I had the honor of photographing Zephyr and Robert’s wedding last weekend at SaddleRidge in Beaver Creek. They are a gorgeous couple!  Their wedding was small, intimate, and touching.  It snowed off and on all day on Saturday, and I am so glad we were able to take some photographs out in the snow.  Here are some of my favorite images.

I am launching a new blog!

Welcome to my new blog.  I will also be launching my new website very soon.

Kelly and Matt's Boulder Wedding

I photographed Snow White’s Wedding!  Kelly and Matt had an outdoor wedding the Saturday after our first snow of the year.  There was still snow on the ground, snow in the trees, and snow on the Flatirons at Chautauqua Park.  This was truly a photographer’s dream.  Gorgeous!!  Not to mention that Kelly, Matt, and their families were fantastic subjects.  What a fun wedding!  One of the best parties I’ve seen all year.  The reception was complete with a limbo contest and three pinatas.  I am so happy I was able to be a part of this event.  It was truly a pleasure to photograph.

October 24, 2009 - 3:05 pm Kelsey Bigelow - Gorgeous, Marilee! They're beautiful, especially the ones at Chataqua!

October 26, 2009 - 1:11 pm Wendy - Kelly, These photos are breath taking!I just loved the festive joy written all over everyone's faces! The excentric pinata's and the awesome footware! Everything looked like it was the party of a lifetime! Your father however....now those photos are the ones that had me in tears! There is nothing more emotionally striking to me than the expression of love and pride on his face, as a parent, from the moment his children were born you become his whole world, and the emotions he shows in these pictures says far more than anything a person could ever say. I can just read him as a parent, a father, a man with such pride. That's why those photos seemed to strike deeply with me. You can see what a great man he is from these photos. Thank you for sharing these with me! What a beautiful day! Congratulations!!

October 26, 2009 - 5:44 pm Rachel, Talia Events - Whoa, I knew the snow-kissed Flatirons were beautiful, but who would have guessed they'd be downright breathtaking when coupled with an equally beautiful couple. Great work Marilee!

November 9, 2009 - 4:56 pm Kelly DeBardelaben - Thank you for taking such great pictures of my dear friend Kelly's wedding! You do great work and have provided many happy memories for the entire family! Thank you again! Kelly DeBardelaben < :)
